Art has been such an integral part of my entire life, personally and professionally.
I restore old picture frames and neglected furniture and give them beauty.
I enjoy working with difficult and/or challenged children and youth and teach
them in a positive, hopeful manner through art. I taught all four of my children
art when they were as young as 6 months old and now they are young adults.
I have seen the positive impact of art in the lives of those touched by it.
I also enjoy teaching adults as to how art can be very relaxing and restorative.
Everyone can do art! My preferred mediums are to work in watercolor, acrylics,
and inks on paper and canvas, however I have used many varied artistic mediums.
I primarily work in calligraphy and realism, however I have been experimenting
in abstraction for backgrounds. In addition to traditional art grounds, I
have also painted floorcloths on heavy weight canvas, banners that are hung
from a rod and wood that is framed. I also have worked on murals and enjoy
the daunting size and physical challenge of doing such work. Currently I
am working with the Downtown Olympia Association to work on murals on State
and 4th Avenues and alley beautification. I am also working to get artists
to display their work with the Dept. of Health
in Tumwater.
